Thoughts

This is the third noodler’s ink I have had the pleasure of reviewing.  During my time using this ink, it does remind me a lot of Diamine Raw Sienna if not just a tad bit darker in shading.  It has good depth to the different levels of shading which you can get from Noodler’s Walnut. You go from a light brown right through to an almost brown/black colour.  The drying times were very impressive and I found that during writing samples it was pretty much dry on the page after a few seconds.  I couldn’t see any other hints of colours while writing or even shading with this ink.  At one point though I have managed to convince myself that I have seen hints of grey or in one case even purple but I think I need to colour calibrate my eyes or something……

Overall I like this ink and would happily recommend this to anyone looking for a brown ink.  In saying that though, I would love to hear from you if there are other brown inks you would recommend.

Thoughts

This is the first purple ink I have ever used and I have found it very enjoyable.  For me this would fall into a Purple/Black category if such a category exists.  It isn’t a bright purple but isn’t completely black in the dark shades.  The more you shade it the darker it becomes, even at stage three it still had really nice hints of purple.  The shading really impressed me as I was moving the ink around with my finger you get really lovely tones and shades of purple. It didn’t lay down that wet a line but I feel this is mainly down to the steel nib of my Waterman Hemisphere.  With a wider nib it might have long drying times.  If you have used this ink with a wider nib I would love to know what you thought of the drying times.

I get a feeling I am falling further down the rabbit hole with regards to playing around with different coloured inks.  If there is any you would like me to review, feel free to let me a comment and I will see what I can do!
