Black n’Red Black A5 Ruled Notebook

From the start the black and red colour scheme (What is the chances it has something to do with the name???) goes really well together and gives it a professional look.  The cover is black whereas the elastic that helps keep the notebook closed and the page marker fabric are red.

The paper itself is 90GSM Optik which handles fountain pens pretty well. Going from a extra fine nib right up to a bold I didn't see any feathering which I found to be very impressive.  I did happen to see some show through on the other side of the page though but I tend to find this with most of my notebooks when using fountain pens.  Drying times were pretty quick which was an added bonus. The only time the drying times took a tad bit longer was with broader nibs which is understandable as they lay down more ink than a finer nib.

My everyday gel pens did great with this paper and there was very little show through to the other side of the page.

The pages are ruled which I am not a big fan of as I prefer a dot grid for my everyday use but this is only a minor mark against it.  At the top of each page there is an area dedicated to writing a date and opposite there is a handy page number.

I have been putting this notebook through its paces the last week or so and overall I have been pretty impressed with it.  For me it is definitely an alternative to a Moleskine.

I had received this notebook for review purposes and all opinions and views are my own.
