Thoughts

This is the second dark purple ink I have actually reviewed.  The first ink I reviewed was called ‘Noodlers Purple Wampum’. These two inks are pretty similar in certain areas but very different in others.

They both are a wonderful dark purple and have been very enjoyable inks to use.  I would say that the CP Deep Dark Purple lays down a tad bit darker whereas the Noodlers Purple Wampum is lighter with an almost greyish tone to it. With regards to the shading I feel the CP Deep Dark Purple has more lighter purple tones when shading where Purple Wampum is more consistent with the darkness of shading, there isn’t any lighter tones.

Drying times are pretty long for the CP Deep Dark Purple and even at the 20 seconds mark it was still smudging.  Compare this to Purple Wampum that drys very quickly.

Overall I really like this ink and in someways I could see me using a Dark Purple ink as a daily carry ink. The one thing that is stopping it being this ink is the drying times.  Is there a dark purple ink out there that has a good dry time?

I wanted to update this review as something very interesting started to happen to this ink in the areas I shaded heavily. A noticeable dark green tone started to appear in these areas. It isn't appearing in other areas that are light in shading but this is something to be very aware of if you plan to use this as a shading ink.
