This is a ink I have heard of many times while listening to the Pen Addict Podcast. If memory services me correctly, I think it is Myke’s favourite everyday ink. Ian (I think he might be my number one enabler) had sent me a message via twitter telling me that Pilot Iroshizuku inks are selling on Amazon for half the cost of anywhere else which led to me having this ink. I have had this ink for a while now and heres what I have found.
For me this isn’t a standard orange ink, there is defiantly a noticeable shade of red to it. This darkens it down from a bright orange to a blood orange. This also really doesn’t allow for very noticeable shading. The colour never really alters a lot when using for shading.
Another interesting element of this ink I noticed while it was drying after heavy shading was that there is a noticeable pinkish shade coming through in certain areas. If you have been using this ink is this something you have come across?
As with the other Pilot Iroshizuku inks I have reviewed the drying times are super impressive. This makes it great for drawing or everyday writing.
When I first got this ink for some reason it didn’t click with me, maybe I had the wrong expectations with it. I had been expecting a brighter orange. After using it for long periods I have now been won over by it. If you are in the market for a good red/orange ink you can't go wrong with the Pilot Iroshizuku Fuyu-Gaki.
